Chemorian Chapter

Just humble little words from a humble little lady about her humble little world…

I think there are at least 20,000 less mature people in KL right now August 1, 2009

It’s my off day today, and since my due date is just three weeks away, I was thinking to go out and buy things for my baby.. You know there are still lots of things that I haven’t bought.. The baby cot, stroller, nappies, diapers, toiletries etc etc etc.. It wasn’t my fault though.. Apparently my husband thought it was too early to buy all those things but sedar-sedar the due date is already around the corner.. So yeah, I would like to use all the free time I have to make sure all is prepared, so that I could go through my confinement period smoothly, without having to worry “oh kena beli ni.. kena beli tu” kind of things you know..

But anyway, I cancel the plan since there was going to a  double demonsration about Internal Security Act (ISA) in KL.. I know even with a single demonstration could cause a massive traffic congestion, inikan pulak ada dua demonstrasi kan.. So daripada I sweat my armpit and ruin my mascara in the car waiting for the jam to be over, I better pamper myself with a grande cup of mocha frap and a slice of cheesecake at a starbucks cafe nearby my house.. Well not really nearby but still, I don’t have to go through all the traffic jam.. Lucky me..

And as I surf the net wanting to know what happened following the demo, I am glad that I cancel my plan.. According to The Star there were at least 20,000 showed up for the demo.. There were water cannons and tear gas everywhere so I could imagine the chaos.. And the traffic was really bad, there were people calling up medias how long the traffic would be stand still..

Now I don’t really pity those who show up for the demonstration.. Even though lots of them was fired the water cannon and the tear gas.. And according to RTM news some of them even jump to the Sungai Gombak, don’t know whether to avoid the tear gas or the water cannons or fear of being caught..

What I pity most are those who were not in the demonstration, a.k.a orang yang lalu-lalang, orang yang buat bisnes dan orang yang bekerja especially the media people who were assigned to cover the event, and most of them already tired of this kind of things, and if it’s not for work, they would rather sit down at home watching tv eating pizza.. And it’s not that they are lazy.. To report the event is one thing, to run away from the water cannon and tear gas is another thing.. And mind you the tear gas is definitely not a play-play kind of things.. It irritates your eyes and skin like hell.. And if it kena your clothes you cannot wash it with water or else the whole clothes will ruin.. And orang yang tembak tear gas tu pun bukannya memilih nak tembak sapa-sapa pun kan.. Jadi orang-orang media yang terpilih dan ‘bernasib baik’ ni pun terkenalah sekali.. How kesian..

And I also pity those who stucked in the traffic jam.. It’s still fine if they were going out for a simple reason, like shopping, just like me.. But what if there were people who were going out for work? What if among those who stuck in the traffic, there was somebody who were going to the hospital for some emergency ill or whatsoever? What if there was a lady who was going to deliver a baby? What if there was a man who haven’t met his father for quite some time and was told that the father was already nazak? What if there were a family who was going to a funeral of their relatives? What if there was a husband rushing back home after receive a call saying that his house was burnt down? There were so many possibilities that I could think of and I believe some of them could actually happen..

Yang si polis pun satu.. Belum start demo pun dah buat roadblock bagai.. FRU merata-rata.. Tear gas and water cannons everywhere.. Yes I know they want to avoid the worst, tapi cam diorang lak yang melebih-lebih..

I am not saying that I am mature, but this kind of things could really trouble other people.. And tell me, is there any good from demonstrations held before? Is there any visible proof that a demonstration does work to change any system?

And some more the government is already reviewing the ISA, so what’s the point of protesting against it right now? You don’t know what it’s going to be yet you are protesting against it? Tell me, what actually you are protesting against?

If the ISA is already finalised and you disagree with it, that I could understand.. But since it’s already under review, isn’t it better to channel your ideas into proper ways, tell them what you think should be abolish and what should be maintained.. Rather than gather some amount of people and march down to you-know-where to do you-know-what, and after that, and trouble thousand others, and after that what???

So yes, I think those who were in the demonstration were less mature.. And forgive me if you are not in the same opinion.. It’s just my personal thoughts..
